The Centre for Young People Development and Poverty Alleviation Initiative (CYDPAN) on Monday joined the global community to commemorate the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence with an impactful flag off event held in Uyo.
The campaign, which runs annually from November 25 to December 10, aims to galvanize action to end violence against women and girls worldwide. CYDPAN’s plan program of activities this year with support from Voice of Women Empowerment Foundation will feature community engagement and school sensitization sessions, workshops, and advocacy visits aimed at addressing issues of discrimination, harmful traditional practices, and economic inequality.
Addressing the CYDPAN team immediately after the flag off event, Barr Nsanawaji Adasi, CYDPAN Executive Director, reiterated CYDPAN commitment to championing women’s and girls’ rights, calling for stronger enforcement of protective laws and greater investment in education and economic empowerment initiatives
The flag off event brought together stakeholders from diverse sectors, including local leaders, civil society organizations, youth and women groups, to advance the fight against gender-based violence.
